Asset Management Strategies for Baltimore, DC, and Beyond

The recent global uncertainties and economic volatility over nearly a decade have all investors concerned and wondering. Each investor brings a unique profile – time horizon, risk tolerance, current assets, beliefs about money, goals and market outlook. Regardless of that mix, at Pinson Wealth Management we believe that understanding the drivers of investment performance and risk management is the foundation for sound decision making. We also believe this knowledge promotes confidence in the strategy and framework for repositioning as circumstances change.

At Pinson Wealth Management, while we know that asset management, wealth accumulation and retirement income planning are not short-term initiatives, we also understand the research that has provided strategies that tend to reduce wealth-eroding volatility. Prior to the implementation of any investment or financial plan, we thoroughly review your accounts, their holdings and their position in the overall plan. Following a philosophy based on the metaphor of Sailing (a good market environment) and Rowing (a difficult market environment) we begin with the “diversification of strategies.” This happens BEFORE we get to the traditional diversification of asset classes that has largely failed during bear markets - just when it is needed most.

While there are many components to this asset management method, essentially it means that during difficult or bear markets, we combine strategies in a way that emphasizes limited downside capture with limited exposure to risk – the rowing portion of the approach. In bull markets, we let the wind fill your sails and leverage assets to your greatest advantage while staying within your risk tolerance and acknowledging the ride, in either bull or bear markets, will not be entirely smooth. The implementation is done with world-class investment firms, none of which are proprietary to PWM. Throughout it all, we continuously assess current and potential future markets so we can quickly adapt to changing economic conditions.
